Fonteyn House seamlessly blends its retained period garden façade with a newly commissioned contemporary interior, spanning 15,980 sq. ft of luxurious interior designed and dressed living space across six expansive floors.

This grand Art Deco-inspired mansion showcases elegant original details, tall French windows, decorative balconies and a private walled garden. The interior boasts six bedroom suites, a swimming pool and wellness floor, club room with a cinema and bar, and a family room opening onto a rooftop terrace overlooking the Victoria & Albert Museum.

"Great artists are people who find the way to be themselves in their art. Any sort of pretension induces mediocrity in art and life alike.”

Margot Fonteyn

Once the Panamanian Embassy, located off Thurloe Place, Amberwood House became the residence of ballet legend Margot Fonteyn upon her marriage in 1955 to Dr. Roberto Arias, who served as the Panamanian Ambassador to the UK. During their residence, Amberwood House became synonymous with leading artistic and political figures of the day and hosted illustrious guests including Princess Margaret, Rudolf Nureyev, John Wayne, Peter Sellers and Yves St Laurent.

Now fully modernised and renamed in honour of the iconic British prima ballerina, Fonteyn House continues to embody timeless elegance.

Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn’s ballet partner lived at the house while negotiating his Royal Ballet contract in 1961. The bedroom
suite on the second floor served as the dance studio for him and Margot during this period.
